It&#8217;s a fav around here.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 cup oatmeal. \u00a0Don&#8217;t need the fancy stuff but if you have it, ok sure.<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup Grape Nuts. This won&#8217;t work without the actual stuff, so plan for it.<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon brown sugar. No, the white sugar won&#8217;t work, so if you plan to shortcut this, you&#8217;ll be sad.<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tablespoon vanilla extract. It does magic with the brown sugar. I don&#8217;t know how or why.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkling of cinnamon. Don&#8217;t be silly and inhale it, it&#8217;s for the oatmeal.<\/li>\n<li>1 cup boiled water. \u00a0Use a tea kettle for fastest results. They cost like 15 bucks at a general goods store, and are so useful for a number of things. Microwave will do, but a tea kettle is faster and you won&#8217;t burn your hand like you will trying to get that glass of boiling water from the microwave.<\/li>\n<li>Speaking of microwaves, please don&#8217;t put cold water in the oatmeal mix and stuff the bowl in the microwave. That breaks the magic. I don&#8217;t know why. I&#8217;ve tried it.<\/li>\n<li>Finely chopped apples are optional but advised. You&#8217;ll end up with oatmeal that tastes like warm apple pie. \u00a0Seriously.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pour the boiling kettle water in the oatmeal mix, stir and wait.<\/p>\n<p>Grandkids love this stuff.
