The grandboy and I are building a city before bedtime.<\/p>\n

“Why you can build this?” he asks as we build structures.<\/p>\n

I ponder the question. \u00a0Why indeed? \u00a0We build cities to house our people, to show how grand we are, to leave something behind that shows we were here once and made a difference.<\/p>\n

I start to answer, but slowly, as I can’t think of a way to share this with him in a way he can understand. \u00a0But I’m cut off.<\/p>\n

“O gwumpa I know! You can build this because you got the blocks!”<\/p>\n

Ah the age-old reason. \u00a0Because it’s there.<\/p>\n
